Historic Lewes Farmer’s Market – a long time client approached me to work on their branding and design for their annual Hoedown. I love projects like this! We started off designing the printed poster and then I created artwork for their social outlets and website. I will also be working on their booklet which should be getting printed in the next month or two.
First, I provided them a few comps to decide a design direction. You’ll notice watermarks on these. I don’t like to use up budget purchasing artwork so for the initial comps I tend to just use low resolution photos until we get a definite path we want to explore.
I took inspiration from vintage seed packets (their suggestion), story books (I thought the animals partying would be a fun tie into the event) and vintage posters. With it being a Historic area I wanted to keep the vintage feel going, as you can probably tell. 🙂
HLFM decided they liked the vintage truck, giant peach, fiddle design (Bottom right). We worked through a few rounds and here is the final poster below. I wanted to add some farm animals (seems to go hand-in-hand with “farmers” and was inspired by the “Dance until the Cows Come Home.” I added a dancing/laughing pig in a barn and needed a cow who wasn’t “home” yet. And nothing like a rooster to make a loud announcement! Of course I wanted to emphasize that there will be music so I added a lot of musical notes.
Here is the Save the Date that was sent out on Instagram and their Eletter. Because of the medium, I had to resize and restructure the design to still have all the required information.
And here is a sample of what went on their website when the tickets went on sale. As you can see the size is very different. I also wanted to make sure the call to action was very clear to the consumer so I made that text red on top of the cloud and an arrow pointing to it.
Stay tuned! Should have the booklet done soon!
